The university admissions landscape looks a lot different now than it did just a year or three years ago. With so many shifts—from the rise in standardized test-optional policies to the record-shattering numbers of applications—it’s harder than ever for students to navigate the university admissions process. We cover the standardized tests available for international students and the latest trends in university admissions so that you can approach your student’s college journey with confidence.

Learning Outcomes

School counsellors will be to explain the role of standardized tests in the university admissions process, to examine the test-optional trends and discuss the opportunities for the students to excel in test-taking strategies as a part of a school counselling program promoting academic, career and social/emotional development of all students.

Michael Gamerl has more than 30 years of experience in education and began his career with The Princeton Review helping students gain admission to the most selective universities in the US.  He expanded his reach in College and Career Readiness with international partners and has assessed Ministries of Education and various Departments of Education on global best practices for assessment, vocational training and career guidance.  More recently, he was VP of Business Development for Riiid Labs and worked with education companies in the US and abroad that serve universities and K12 schools in the development and adoption of AI-based learning tools.  He received his M.Sc. in Economics from the London School of Economics.
