Course Description

The science of students' motivation delves into understanding the psychological, cognitive, and emotional factors that drive individuals to engage in learning and educational pursuits. It explores why students choose to participate in educational activities, how they sustain their efforts, and what influences their level of commitment and enthusiasm. This field of study draws from various disciplines, including educational psychology, neuroscience, and behavioral economics, to uncover the complex interplay of factors that shape motivation in educational contexts.

Learning Outcomes

  • Identify the types of student’s motivation.
  • Apply knowledge of the 4-step model of how interest develops.
  • Apply the principle of flow experience.
  •  Identify the 4 different student profiles, school engagement and well-being.
  • Identify and apply the 4 Cs of intrinsic motivation.
  • Apply the eight (8) motivational principles to learning.

Facilitator

Sharjah Education Academy (SEA) in collaboration with SEA alumni (Collins Omeike and Mahmoud Gbla). Both outstanding teachers and alumni members of the first SEA Postgraduate Diploma in Education Program.

Collins and Mahmoud have developed a deep understanding of the cognitive, emotional aspects of learning and technological inclusion in learning.

Their expertise encompasses curriculum development, instructional design, and assessment strategies, tailored to accommodate various learning styles and abilities. Their passion for fostering critical thinking skills led them to integrate technology into their teaching methodologies, enhancing student engagement and promoting digital literacy.

Beyond the classroom, they have taken on leadership roles, collaborating with colleagues to facilitate professional development workshops and mentor fellow educators. Their commitment to lifelong learning is evident through their active participation in conferences, and research projects that aim to elevate the quality of education for all learners.

Award
