Course Description

 

The "Inclusive Educator" CPD course equips educators to build inclusive learning environments. It covers diversity, equity, and inclusion principles, offering strategies for accommodating diverse needs, fostering belongingness, and ensuring equal access to education. Through discussions and practical activities, participants learn to identify barriers and implement inclusive teaching practices, including Universal Design for Learning and culturally responsive teaching. By course end, educators emerge as confident advocates for diversity and equity in classrooms and beyond. 

 

Learning Outcomes 

For all educators to: 

·       Understand what inclusion means for Sharjah and internationally. 

·       Know the vocabulary and definitions around inclusion for consistent approaches across all SPEA/SEA schools. 

·       Identify the characteristics and features of an inclusive classroom environment that fosters academic, social, and emotional development. 

·       Understand how to tailor for the needs of individuals in; planning and adaptation, day-to-day lessons, and assessments for learning (AfL). 

·       Explore theories and models of behaviour management including behavioural, cognitive -behavioural and humanistic approaches. 

·       Understand how to deploy additional adults in the classroom environment to suit the needs of all learners. 

·       Develop an understanding of how to work successfully in a partnership with parents/carers by developing an understanding of the importance of building positive relationships. 

·       Explore strategies for promoting collaboration, respect and acceptance among students from diverse cultural, linguistic and ability backgrounds.  

·       Understand the importance of self-reflection in fostering inclusivity within educational settings. 

·       Understand the principles of inclusive education and how they apply to the school environment, including promoting diversity, equity, and accessibility for all students.
