This course focuses on what learners can access online.

Course Description

This is the second in a set of three courses focused on eSafety. Each course focuses on one of the three key online risk categories. The focus for this second course is CONTENT – what students can access online. Participants will learn about the dangers of online content including inappropriate content as well as phishing and other online scams. They will also develop their understanding of systems, strategies and tools to limit access to inappropriate content in schools, to educate students about the potential dangers and to effectively evaluate a school’s eSafety provision in this regard.

  • Identify what phishing and online hoaxes can look like
  • Recognise crucial systems to moderate online communication
  • Identify strategies to educate students about Content dangers
  • Identify tools and apps to educate students about Content dangers
  • Evaluate eSafety provision related to Content (in-line with the Aqdar eSafe School Framework)

Steve Bambury has worked in education for 18 years, ultimately taking on the role of Head of Digital Learning and Innovation across the JESS Dubai school group. Steve now works as an independent technology consultant, supporting schools and other organisations to integrate technology effectively. Steve is an Apple Distinguished Educator, a Microsoft Master Trainer, a two-time winner of the GESS Award for Best Use of ICT, winner of the 2018 BETT MEA Innovation Award and was named as the 2018 Education Trendsetter by EdTech Digest. In 2017, he became the first educator to host professional development sessions inside virtual reality and in 2018 he co-hosted the world’s first global lesson inside VR alongside Pixar co-founder Loren Carpenter.
