Adult Learning in 21st Century-تعليم الكبار في القرن ال 21
Course
Course Description
Many Arab countries face a three-dimensional challenge represented in eliminating traditional illiteracy on the one hand, and information and knowledge illiteracy on the other. This requires building a knowledge environment that replaces the concept of teaching with the concept of learning, in line with the contemporary wisdom that says: “Knowledge It is not given by the teacher, it is made by the learner.
The twenty-first century requires many skills, the most important of which are: the ability to identify the information we need, determine how to obtain it, evaluate it, and then use it effectively to address an issue or solve a problem. The absence of these skills is called "information illiteracy".
Today's world also requires critical thinking skills, innovation and sustainable self-learning, and the absence of these skills is termed "cognitive illiteracy".
The number of people with computer and Internet skills in the Arab world is constantly increasing, but it is still much lower than in developed countries, and the traditional illiteracy rate is still high in some Arab countries, which constitutes a great waste of human resources.
Hence the need to complete the training of teachers of the العلم نور Centers of the Sharjah Education Council on adult education skills in the 21st century.
